History Of Goretti Hospital
To speak of our beginnings, we must look back to the late 1950s, a time when doctors and hospitals were scarcely available in small towns and villages, Kallianpur being no exception. In response to the healthcare needs of the people, Msgr.Denis Dsouza, the Parish Priest of Milagres Church, Kallianpur, started a small hospital in 1958.
However, due to challenges in its functioning, the then Bishop Rt. Rev. Raymond D’mello invited the Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles (SRA) to take over and serve the people by managing the hospital in Kallianpur.
In 1962 the sisters arrived at Kallianpur Santhekatte to embark the service in health care in a small and significant structure. Since then, we the SRA sisters began our pioneering steps in Goretti hospital.
On 30th April 1968 the New hospital block was inaugurated with different department like X-ray, Laboratory, ECG, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy and Ambulance services. With the available facility,the hospital started functioning as “secondary health care”, When required patients wear referred to the higher centers, KMC Manipal.
Marching towards a healthy society to promote health and well-being for all through holistic health care and loving service.
